almonds, cloves, some oak and vanilla to go with a palate
dry and powerful with juicy fruit and ripe tannins, fresh
with a medium-to-long aftertaste.

BARBERA D'ALBA 2004 BOSCO AGOSTINO

1 C - Very dark intense
purple. N - Intense, ripe cherry, floral notes - violets,
spices, persistent aromas with delicate smokiness, fine
intensity.
P - Smooth, almost sweet in the mouth, cacao, roasted coffee
beans, smoky and roasted almond, fine balance, long and
deep finish.
2 C - Clear,
very dark purple. N - Oak, roasted coffee, almonds, blackberries,
cherries, very intense bouquet. P - Big and concentrated,
ripe tannins, dense with plenty of fruit, fresh and very
long. Still young. Keep or decant.
3 C - Profound
ruby, purple reflections. N - Red fruit, not very concentrated
aromas, light spiciness, quite good intensity: P - Supple,
generous, medium bodied, good balance, quite long finish,
persistent flavors. Very attractive.
4 C - Clear,
dense, super dark. N - Restrained bouquet, some fruit, average
quality, medium intensity. P - Nice flavors, well made and
fine quality expression, excellent balance, tannins pop
out at end, great length. Nice potential.
5 C - Clean,
brilliant, intense cherry red. N - Jammy dried fruit, prunes,
inky notes, violets, black olives, fine bouquet, nice aromatic
expression, fully intense. P - Powerful and voluminous,
very fruity expression, well charged with nicely blended
tannins, good flavors of nice quality.
6 C - Very dense,
very dark and deep garnet. N - Very unformed as yet, blackcurrant,
blueberry, Morello cherry, quite closed, but fine intensity.
P - Very modern presentation, ample, generous, wood notes
from barrels, very concentrated flavors, limited balance.
Very modern style and extremely young.

dark purple. N - Ripe, intense blackberry, liquorice notes,
alcohol almost aggressive.
P - Unctuous, cherry, violets, plum, high tannins, but racy,
finely balanced, long finish.
2 C - Young
purple. N - Flowery, red fruits, elegant. P - Dry and very
fresh young red fruits, medium length.
3 C - Profound
ruby, purple reflections. N - Ripe red fruit, blueberries,
hint of sulphur though, some intensity. P - Medium bodied,
slightly tannic, shy flavors, limited balance, dry tannins
at end, moderate finish. Average wine.
4 C - Clear,
dense, great appearance. N - Restrained bouquet, average
aromas, holding back.
P - Light, not very fruity, some greenness, average quality,
raw balance, green edges, short at end. Not much going on.
5 C - Clean,
brilliant, intense cherry red. N - Jammy, black fruit, strawberry
marmalade, spicy notes - cloves, hint of violets, good aromas,
deep intensity. P - Powerful and fine bodied, slight acidity,
tannic, some decent flavors, fair balance, very bitter at
end, medium finish.
6 C - Very concentrated,
dark and deep garnet. N - Stewed black fruit, tar, coffee,
burnt notes, agreeable quality, slight touch of iodine, low
intensity. P - Fine bitterness, acidity presence, slightly
straightforward flavors, average quality, moderate balance,
short finish. Medium bodied with nice acidity. |
